I had read "Laird of the Mist" by Paula Quinn in the past and I loved that one. Lord of Desire didn't work for me as much. What bothered me the most was the irrational drooling of the Hero after a women that betrayed him again and again. Yet all the way at the almost end of the novel, he still drools over her skin and hair and boobs. Even though by this time he finally realized he loves the heroine. This portrayal of the other woman was so over the top and baffling. She was described as having almost hypnotic powers over men because of her yellow hair and brown eyes and who knows what. For me this took away from the romance. The other thing that bothered me was the flowery language. I don't remember that from Laird of the Mist. It was just so over the top flowery and cheesy at parts.
