I am actually angry now. Here is the thing, the story was not bad, it could have been pretty good. Lots of potential. I liked the setting, the characters, the emotions that I got out of it. But many of those were ruined by the editing issues. What a shame to ruin a story like that with something simple as proof reading and editing. What a shame. I am angry because I feel insulted by the author. Its insulting and shows no respect for the readers or even the author herself to put something this riddled with editing issues out there in the market place. There is no excuse for this. There were words thrown into sentences that didn't belong, words were just missing, commas placed in such odd positions, I had to read the sentence 3 times to make sense of it. Here is the thing. English is not my first language. I never went to school in an English speaking country. I am not familiar with technical stuff when it comes to grammar. So I don't even want to know what all I have been missing in this book. I am very tolerant of stuff, so when I notice things, its really really bad. There are just random periods missing, the mixed up words, missing and too many words. I can't even describe how bad. I started to highlight on my kindle every time I happen to notice something. My clippings file is huge now. It was so bad it kept ripping me out of the story. I would have given this maybe a 2 star. But then I read the end and the authors note. Author claimed that this is the edited version. She willingly and knowingly put out a version even worse than the one I was reading? Are you kidding me? So now I am even more angry because it seems she used readers as beta readers. Nothing galls me more. The book is high in the rankings on Amazon, the author is making money. There has been no professional editing done here, that is obvious. Its a shame and its insulting. I purchased this book on the 14th of March. 2013. If that is edited, my name is Jennifer Anniston.
